Days 12-14 – Bangkok

We’re up at 5am and packed and checked-out in no time, but sadly too early to take advantage of the breakfast buffet.  Taxi to the airport, which is cheaper than two train tickets plus there’s no traffic at this hour.

We joke about what jetsetters we are, but also how sick we are of queues and airports … we both agree to that to be a world touring rock star would be terrible job.

Arriving in Bangkok at around 10am on Friday morning Aidan and I have a couple hours wait at the airport for Ann & Liam to fly in from Brisbane.  This was a last minute arrangement after learning of some cheap flight specials with Royal Brunei Airlines.  It feels wonderful for the four of us to be together as a family again.

By the time we’re all together it’s about 1pm on Friday and we get a taxi to the apartment, near Lumphini Park.  It’s a small, two bedroom, self-contained place that is pretty basic but just fine for our needs.  We settle in and go for a walk around the local streets to get our bearings and to see what’s what.

We have a few days before I have start work again on Monday morning, so we spend the weekend doing the standard tourist routine … long-tail boat ride, snake farm,  china town, night markets, restaurants, shopping etc.  I have uploaded a selection of photographs to provide a feeling of a very touristy Bangkok weekend.
